CronEngine vs EasyCron

Both run scheduled HTTP requests. EasyCron goes further on timeouts; CronEngine adds heartbeats, uptime checks and status pages in the same account, with monthly instead of yearly billing.

Choose EasyCron if

Your requests run for minutes or hours, you prefer a low yearly price, or several people need their own login.

Choose CronEngine if

You want heartbeats, uptime checks and a customer status page next to your cron jobs, monthly billing in euros, or a free plan that does not need renewing.

About EasyCron

EasyCron has been running since 2011. It calls your URL on a full cron schedule, with very long timeouts on its paid plans, separate failure logs and an API.

Switching from EasyCron

  1. Use Import in the CronEngine job form: paste the request as a cURL command and the form fills itself in.
  2. Copy the schedule; standard cron expressions work as they are.
  3. Once a few runs succeed, pause the job on EasyCron so it does not run twice.

Questions

Can CronEngine run long requests like EasyCron?

Up to 300 seconds on Business and 600 on Enterprise. If your requests run for hours, EasyCron's 12 and 24 hour timeouts fit better.

Does the CronEngine free plan expire?

No. It stays free with 5 cron jobs, 2 heartbeats and 1 uptime check, no credit card needed.

Do my cron expressions work in CronEngine?

Standard five-field expressions work as they are, including the @hourly style shortcuts. Quartz-only syntax with seconds needs rewriting.
